Feel free to use for both commercial and personal use.  If you use it on the web, feel free to leave (pun fully intended) a link in the comment so I can see how it was used. It’s not necessary but I love seeing how my work was used. Enjoy.

Free Grunge Texture Pack

Finally got a nice day in the Buffalo N.Y. area and I wanted to snap some grungey style textures with my phone. I accidentally shot these in the wrong resolution and thought I would post them here as a freebie grunge texture pack. The images are unedited, and 640 x 480 px in jpeg format. I usually shoot my textures in a much higher resolution but I’m sure these are still usable to more than a few people out there. There’s about 14 images in total, the sample picture shows a few examples. All freebies are served thru Mega to help conserve bandwidth on my server. Enjoy!

Textures, patterns, backgrounds, fonts and graphics can get really expensive. I’m always looking for free commercial use goodies for design, and when I find them, I love to share them with you guys. Here’s 20 high resolution textures for free download from the fine folks over at SpeckyBoy.

These are great textures and have almost a new age pastel grunge look to them. I’m sure you all will find some way to put these textures to good use. These are high resolution, and the file is 194 megs so depending on your modem speed may take a some time to download but I think these are worth it. Youtube Video – Create Old Paper Effect In Gimp

With all the web designing, social networking and trying to get my site up and functioning, I just haven’t had time to do any graphic design work. According to twitter, today is #NationalDrinkWineDay so I decided to crack open a bottle of wine when I got home from my day job, and play around with one of my favorite graphics programs, Gimp. My idea of a little rest and relaxation.

I wanted to do something a little different and came across this video on Youtube of a guy creating a old paper type of effect. The end result looks like an old pirate map. He uses the basic program, with the basic filters, the only thing you might need is a good set of grunge brushes, so if you don’t have those, go to your favorite search engine, search Gimp grunge brushes, and then watch the video. Enjoy.
